*** A note about spalted woods:
Spalting occurs when a fungal growth invades a piece of wood. By their nature, spalts are soft and porous. They will thus tend to cut high frequencies in the tonal spectrum. So I recommend they be used with a Visible Neck Thru construction to minimize any tonal effects. They will also be more easily scratched and dented because of this softness.
